Common Music Group sues Anthropic AI over copyright infringement

Common Music Group (AS:), Harmony Publishing and ABKCO Music & Information have filed a lawsuit in opposition to the synthetic intelligence (AI) startup Anthropic, accusing the latter of committing copyright infringement when coaching its AI chatbot, Claude.

The lawsuit was filed on Oct. 18 and claims that Anthropic “unlawfully” copied and disseminated “huge quantities of copyrighted works – together with the lyrics to myriad musical compositions” which are below the possession or management of the publishers.
