British MPs name on authorities to scrap AI exemptions that harm artists

A British parliamentary committee is pressuring the federal government to axe plans that may permit synthetic intelligence builders to freely practice their programs on current works of music, literature and artwork.

In an Aug. 30 report, the Tradition, Media and Sport Committee warned the federal government’s unique plan to exempt textual content and information mining by AI from copyright protections “dangers decreasing arts and cultural manufacturing to mere ‘inputs’ in AI improvement,” and reveals a “clear lack of knowledge” for the wants of the UK’s creators.
